Stay Free Old Stranger

Artist: Adore
Label: self release
Impact date: out now
ROTD featured date: Wednesday 5 March 2025

We say

Irish trio Adore have continued to impress us with their urgent, scuzzy fusion of garage punk and indie. Their previous singles and RotD-featured tracks, ‘Supermum!’ and ‘Can We Talk’ have shown the trio to deliver melodic and infectious blasts of punk rock goodness consistently. Drawing inspiration from The Breeders, Elastica, Echobelly, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Sex Pistols, Adore have already caught the attention of So Young Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, DIY, Clash, Dork, Rough Trade, and radio tastemakers like Steve Lamacq (6 Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X). Produced by and recorded with Gilla Band bassist Daniel Fox, ‘Stay Free Old Stranger’ throws an unexpected jazzy interlude into their sound. With its scorched guitars, energetic drums and melodic tones, the song is primed for additions to alternative playlists and potential spins at Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X. The band are set to support Chalk in Belfast next month before heading out on a UK tour this May, including a show at The Waiting Room in London on 22 May.
