We say

With gorgeous finger-plucked guitar melodies and signature sweeping string soundscapes, ‘Daddy’ is the glorious new single from RotD-favourite Bird, aka multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Janie Price. Co-written with long time collaborator ex-Dire Straits guitarist Hal Lindes and recorded between London and Nashville Tennessee, the song explores the complex relationship between a father and a son. Known for her ability to blend genres seamlessly and add cinematic score flourishes, ‘Daddy’ is an evocative slice of Americana and contemporary folk. Having caught the attention of tastemakers at Radio 2, Radio 5 and BBC regional stations for her previous singles, we reckon it won’t be too long before this beautiful ode receives spins on the radio. Plus, the track is featured on Deezer's Brand New UK and deserves additions to mellow/cinematic and Americana-themed playlists at DSPs. Next month, Bird will perform at SXSW in Austin and then return in June and September to play further shows in the US, including in Nashville. With each new release, Bird continues to impress us with her haunting vocals, emotive instrumentation and rich soundscapes, and with ‘Daddy’ she offers a tantalising glimpse into her upcoming EP, ‘Heads or Tales’.
