Released yesterday, ‘BREAK’ is the new single from London-based artist Jack Mercer, aka VC Pines. We last featured him over a year and a half ago with the electronic neo-soul sounds of ‘Colours’. Since then, he released his debut album, ‘MRI’, and continued to build on his fantastic support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 (Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders), BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins), BBC Radio 2 (Jo Whiley), BBC Radio London, Radio X (John Kennedy), BBC Introducing (Jess Izsatt) and Absolute Radio (Danielle Perry), along with editorial support at DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and Amazon Music). ‘BREAK’ sees him evolve his alternative soul sound as he explores the themes of self-destruction and isolation in this downtempo and soul-bearing offering. With more music to come over the following months and a show at London’s Omeara on 23 May, VC Pines is continuing his musical journey, all crafted through the lens of his temporal lobe epilepsy.
