With an infectious energy and a rock'n'roll spirit, CMAGIC5 (they call her 'C') is a rising Toronto-based artist producing edgy and infectious, power pop-punk-flavoured songs. Released last Friday (17 January), ‘Happy Never After’ marks the beginning of a new era for C, who first broke out onto the scene during the pandemic. With its razor-sharp lyrics and angsty twist on the classic “happily ever after”, the song channels early Avril Lavigne with a modern Olivia Rodrigo tinge. The title track from her upcoming EP, crafted alongside Grammy-nominated and Juno-winning producers (Ryan Worsley, Tavish Crowe, Ryan Stewart), the song is perfect for those power punk-pop and new pop playlists at DSPs. Watch the video here. With over 5.3m streams, C performed at summer festivals across Canada and has built up a loyal following. No news of a UK show yet, but with a new single every month in 2025, CMAGIC5 is set to have a busy year. One to watch.
