We say
Our last Ones To Watch 2025 for the year is the brilliant Good Neighbours. It’s been a massive year for the east London duo Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, and regular readers of our Mongrel column will know that from the start of the year, we were seriously impressed with them and their gorgeous debut ‘Home’. Sitting somewhere between MGMT, Passion Pit, and Glass Animals, the alt-indie-pop goodness of ‘Home’ quickly saw them graduate from viral buzz to chart success with entry into singles charts in 13 countries (UK no.26 and Billboard 100). The track became the UK and US most streamed debut single released this year and has gone Platinum in the US & Australia, double Platinum in Canada and Gold in New Zealand and the UK. They followed it up with the RotD-featured ‘Keep It Up’ and this indie-banger in July before releasing their self-titled debut EP in October. Along the way, their brand of euphoric indie pop has featured heavily across editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer. While Radio 1 and Apple Music 1 have also been big supporters. Plus, they’ve been nominated for a Billboard Music Award for Best Rock Duo/Group in the US, shortlisted for the BRITs Rising Star Award and BBC Sound Of 2025 longlist and tipped by MTV (Push UK & IRE 2025) and Vevo (DSCVR Artists to Watch 2025). With sold-out shows across the world, the RotD team has been lucky enough to catch them multiple times over the year, from early shows at the Lexington to their Great Escape festival performance, and after each show, we have always left with an upbeat and energetic feeling. Next up for the duo, is a new single, ‘Ripple’, to be released in January before heading to the US to finish their debut album and a huge tour with Foster The People. Just as 2024 was a big year for the duo, 2025 is shaping up to be even bigger for Good Neighbours, and we can’t wait to hear what’s next.
