Today’s Ones To Watch 2025 is Spanish-born, Brighton-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Gizmo Varillas. Gizmo is an artist we have been supporting since we featured his uplifting anthem ‘Born Again’ during the pandemic. Since then, his funky rhythm guitar lines, cinematic soundscapes and uplifting lyrics have seen him release three albums, catch the attention of radio tastemakers at 6 Music (Huey Morgan, Chris Hawkins, Craig Charles), Radio 2 (Jo Whiley), Jazz FM and BBC London (Gary Crowley), and praise from Rolling Stone Germany, among others. At DSPs, he has gone from 3m streams per month in January to 10m+ in December 2024 and has received editorial playlist additions at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube. While on the live front, he has sold over 10,000 tickets in 2024, including sold-out Spring and Autumn tours across Europe. Next year, he will release his fourth album, ‘The World In Colour’, on 21 March, which features this dreamy gem, ‘Under the Weight’, and marks a new chapter in the progression of Gizmo’s music and career. Gizmo will be heading out on another big headline tour of Europe, including a show at the Jazz Café on 22 May to support the album release. With European radio support, a recent sync for Aldi and key supporters here in the UK, 2024 has seen Gizmo’s fanbase grow considerably, and with music this good, 2025 is set to be even bigger.
