Don't Cry
We say
Today’s Ones To Watch 2025 is the emerging British soul talent Nia Smith. Having been brought up on her dad’s collection of music, ranging from Aretha Franklin to Lauryn Hill, Adele, and Amy Winehouse, Nia’s interest in music quickly blossomed from singing at an early age to writing songs at 14 and then learning the guitar and piano before attending the Brit School and ELAM. After garnering a buzz online through her covers and song clips on TikTok, she landed support slots with RotD favourites Mahalia and Tems, as well as a duet with Pip Millet and then sold out her first solo headline show last year, all without releasing a track. 2024 has been a busy year for the 21 year old, which has seen her drop her debut EP, ‘Give Up The Fear’ (including this beautiful track), support SZA at BST Hyde Park, play at All Point East, open for Jordan Rakei at the Royal Albert Hall and tour with Elmiene on his US and European tour. Her soaring, cinematic and soulful songs have been praised by Rolling Stone, NME, British Vogue, The Independent, The Line of Best Fit, The Times, Wonderland and more, alongside DSP support from Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, and at Radio 1, Radio 2 and 1Xtra. Plus, the Brixton-raised artist has performed on Later with Jools Holland and has been tipped by Vevo as one of their DSCVR Artists to Watch 2025. We love her soul-pop sounds and combine that with her gorgeous vocals and intimate songwriting, so believe Nia Smith has everything to become a big success in 2025.
