Eventide
We say
There is something very hypnotic and comforting about ‘Eventide’ from Canadian avant-pop artist Christian Sean. From the funk-out rhythm section to the cascading strings and celestial choirs, the track quickly lures you into a hazy state of peace as Christian’s falsetto vocal soars over trippy soundscapes. It’s the second single following ‘Cold Water’ to be taken from his forthcoming debut album, 'Hallelujah Showers’, out 31 January. Early tastemaker support for his music has come from The Fader, Earmilk, and Under The Radar, among others, but we can hear this being picked up for additions on psychedelic alternative playlists alongside Tame Impala, MGMT, and Empire of the Sun, as well as as spins at 6 Music and Radio 1 specialist shows. It’s early doors for Christian but from early impressions, he has it all to make a name for himself in this niche. Top stuff.
