Following on from his hard and heavy slice of pulsing electro-pop in ‘Everything Is Beautiful’, rising alt-pop artist Kai Bosch dropped this swaggering new single last week. Premiered on Mai Beth’s Radio 1 Future Pop show last Wednesday and supported on BBC Introducing South West, ‘Rodeo Romeo’ is the latest release in his new joyous pop era. Produced by Duncan Mills (Florence + The Machine, LCD Soundsystem, Miles Kane, Nell Mescal) and adopting a more groove-filled vibe this time around but with echoes of electro-pop, the track sees Kai being less serious, both lyrically and sonically, and in his words “my crack at a Eurovision-worthy belter”. With previous tastemaker support from Spotify, Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Jess Izatt), The Line of Best Fit, Dork and more, Kai is finding that his brand of pop is winning over supporters and finding a niche of its own. Having supported Katie Gregson MacLeod and Gretel Hanlyn on their UK/EU tours and sold out shows at Servant Jazz, Folklore and The Social, he will next play The Courtyard Theatre in London on 22 November.
