Opening to a few bars of galloping drums and soaring harmonies, ‘Fortune’ is the anthemic new release from London-based four-piece Dead Chic. Initially formed by Andy Balcon and Damien Felix who had crossed paths touring in their respective bands (Heymooshaker and Catfish) over the years, the duo decided to collaborate on a new project in the autumn of 2020. In 2022, they released their first track ‘Too Far Gone’ and then bought in Remi Ferbus on drums and Mathis Akengin on keyboards. With a sound rich in Ennio Morricone vibes, reverb-heavy guitars and blues, the group have seen their music pick up airplay on Radio X and praise from Rolling Stone, Earmilk, Louder Than War and Under The Radar, to name just a few. ‘Fortune’ is their best yet and deserves additions to Alternative, Blues and Rock editorial playlists at DSPs, alongside spins on Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music. Next up for the band is the release of their debut album, ‘Serenades And Damnation, on 8 November before they play an acoustic set at Rough Trade West on 12 November.
