Demons In The Liffey
We say
With waterfall-like acoustic guitar and sitar sounds backed by soft, ethereal soundscapes and stirring strings, ‘Demons In The Liffey’ is the beautiful new single from Cuban-Irish singer-songwriter Qbanaa. It’s the third release of the year from the emerging artist following the previously RotD-featured track ‘Best Time’ and is taken from her forthcoming ‘Elisa’ EP. Written during her time in London, the song captures the emotional turbulence of running from home and navigating the lonely challenges of self-discovery. It’s a gorgeous track and shows off her mellifluous vocals to perfection. Featuring on Spotify UK's New Music Friday playlist, the track deserves additions to mellow and tender contextual playlists at DSPs too, alongside spins at Radio 1, 1Xtra and 6 Music. Named as a 2024 RTE 2FM Rising Artist, Qbanaa has also had praise from Irish tastemakers, including Nialler 9, Hotpress and Goldenplec. This summer, she performed at All Together Now, Forbidden Fruit and Another Love Story festivals. Next week, she will perform at the Cork Guinness Jazz Festival on 25 October and then at the Cork Opera House on 26 with Buena Vista Social Club. If you are a fan of artists like Erykah Badu, Greentea Peng, and Amy Winehouse, Qbanaa might be just the artist for you. Watch the video here.
