Geek Love
We say
Skinner is the project of Dublin-based multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Aaron Corcoran who draws on the New York no-wave, post-punk, punk-funk, and disco from the late ’70s/early ’80s. With the DNA of acts like James Chance, ESG, and Liquid Liquid blending with the sounds of the Pixies, Morphine and Pavement, Skinner’s music has caught the attention of KCRW, RTE 2FM, 98FM, Hot Press, Nialler9 and Spotify (An Alternative Eire, Post Punk 2K & Hot New Bands). Last week, Skinner dropped this addictive blast of funky post-punk goodness. Released via Faction Records (Sorcha Richardson, James Vincent McMorrow), it’s the title track to his new EP, ‘Geek Love’, and inspired by one of his favourite books, Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. If you love your post-punk or anything with infectious guitar lines and a touch of ’80s sax, then look no further. Next February, Skinner will head out on a 13-date Ireland and UK tour, including a show at the Shacklewell Arms on 19 February to support the release of his debut album, 'New Wave Vaudeville', on 10 January.
