beltane
We say
Exploring the bittersweet journey of heartbreak and healing, ‘beltane’ is the hauntingly beautiful new track by alt-pop artist færy. The moniker of Australian actor, writer, filmmaker and environmentalist Liana Cornell, færy sees the Bryon Bay native add another layer to her creative evolution. The fourth single from her forthcoming debut album ‘rising’ (31 October), the track began in Ibiza where she found her life had fallen apart when she split from her partner (Ibiza was supposed to be their honeymoon) after her dad died. Recorded in Cornwall with writer/producer Will Vaughan (Oliver Tree, Dorian Electra, KSI, Mae Muller), the track features snippets of recordings she made in Ibiza from the pool as a sonic backdrop to her whispered vocals, soft percussion and dreamy guitar line. The track is one of those dreamlike soundscapes perfect for hazy and thoughtful playlists at DSPs, alongside spins on 6 Music and specialist shows at Radio 1. Apple Music, Wonderland and Notion have been among her early tastemaker supporters but we feel this ethereal ode will lead to more.
