We say

Within a few seconds of hitting ‘Play’ on this glorious song by Sunday (1994), you’ll be transported back to a hip, widescreen, cinematic world of your adolescence, where stunning imagery would often make you romanticise about the big dreams you hoped to fulfil in life. It’s the sort of world artists like Lana Del Rey and Mazzy Star have successfully plundered, and now we can add this trio of self-confessed movie buffs to the list. Featuring the vocals of the fabulously named Paige Turner from California, their excellent self-titled debut EP was critically acclaimed on its initial release in May and has now been expanded from six to to nine songs after their recent signing to RCA UK/Arista (Sony Music). This absolutely gorgeous track and the other eight nuggets were all written and recorded in a one-bedroom apartment by Paige and bandmate Lee Newell from Slough alongside their enigmatic drummer known simply as ‘X’. They’re creating quite the tastemaker buzz on both sides of the Atlantic with early support coming from The Line Of Best Fit, Sunday Times Culture, DIY, Notion, and Wonderland amongst many others. They make their highly anticipated live debut tonight (23 September) at Los Angeles venue The Echo before heading to London’s Camden Assembly next Monday (30 September) for a sold-out show, then a third at the famous Mercury Lounge in NYC in December. ‘Blossom’ is such an effortlessly cool song, executed magnificently, and fully deserves your immediate attention. You might just find yourself falling in love with it so much, you keep coming back to it time and time again after you’ve adding it to your playlist of new favourites, then drop their name to everyone you come into contact with. Majestic.
