The alter-ego of British-born Dylan James, Lab Rat’s new single is a tumultuous tale of his battles and triumphs from darkness to light. Having immersed himself in the local punk and metal scene in Victoria as a teenager he moved to London aged 18 to pursue his musical dreams, only to be ensnared by addiction and struggles with mental health. He returned to Australia where he became sober and found solace in Melbourne’s Singing Bird Recording Studios. Now signed to Mushroom Pillow, ‘Exit Path’ is his story from despair to redemption. It’s a dramatic and intense release deserving of spins on specialist shows at Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X, alongside additions to alternative playlists at DSPs. ‘Exit Path’ is a perfect introduction to the sound and driving force of Lab Rat.
