Crow
We say
Led by English/Irish brothers Finn and Conor Keogh, London-based four-piece Keo produces gripping and emotional alt-rock tinged with post-grunge soundscapes. Influenced by a myriad of artists, including Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, My Bloody Valentine, Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins, the lads have been honing their sound and cutting their teeth on the live circuit. Over the past year, they have played alongside Courting, bdrmm, Ugly, Enola Gay and Chappaqua Wrestling, as well as supported Kings Of Leon at their BST Hyde Park show earlier this summer. In May, they released their debut track ‘Fly’ on SoundCloud and YouTube, which caught the attention of Dork, Far Out and NME. Last week, they dropped this emotionally charged offering, backed by a mounting instrumental fury. Recorded live to tape at 123 Studios in Peckham with Brett Shaw (Foals, Florence + The Machine), ‘Crow’ is a soul-bearing exploration of familial love, despair and ultimately, hope. Available only on SoundCloud and YouTube, the track is a bold and energetic statement of intent from the band. Further support has come from Wonderland and Whynow, and it wouldn't surprise us if this picks up a spin or two on specialist shows at Radio 1 and 6 Music. Next week, they will play at a sold-out Windmill Brixton show on Wednesday (28 August). One to watch.
