Life
We say
From its stabs of warbling guitars and distorted synths to its juddering percussion, ‘Life’ is the latest single from LA musician, producer and visual artist Mal Hauser, aka Mal Not Bad. Building on their previous release, the RotD-featured ‘No Worries’, the track is a glitchy kaleidoscope of sounds for those of you who like their music more leftfield. Watch the video made in conjunction with director of photography Seannie Bryan (Weyes Blood, Blondshell) here. Inspired by the spiralling electronic and ambient worlds of Aphex Twin and Brian Eno to the deft songwriting nuances of Feist and David Bryne, the single, released last week, is taken from their upcoming debut album, ‘This Is Your New Life’, out on 9 August. Early support for the track has come from The Line Of Best Fit, and this morning, it received its first play on Lauren Laverne's show (Nemone sitting in) on 6 Music. Previous tastemaker support has come from 6 Music (Guy Garvey, Huey Morgan), The Guardian, The Independent, Colors, Consequence, Wonderland, NPR, DIY, Dork, NME and Brooklyn Vegan, to name just a few. One to watch.
