Entertainment
We say
It’s been over two years since we featured Dublin-based singer, songwriter and performer Shobsy’s ’80s-infused debut, ‘Vanity’. Since then, the former State Lights frontman has continued to impress with a string of pop releases catching the attention of Earmilk, PopMatters, Nialler9, Hot Press, Today FM and the Late Late Show. Plus, he recently performed as a special guest at the International Music Industry Person of the Year award in LA and also at the President’s Garden Party alongside Dermot Kennedy and Gavin James in Dublin. Following a period of writing and collaborating in Berlin, Shobsy dropped this infectious disco-tinged pop number, complete with catchy brass hooks and those George Michael-esque vocals, last Friday (12 July). Early support for ‘Entertainment’ has come from Irish tastemakers, including being named as RTE 2fm’s 'Track of the Week', but we reckon this would sound fantastic on Radio 1 and 2, along with additions to vibrant new pop and upbeat mood playlists at DSPs. Having sold out the Workman’s Club in Dublin earlier in the year, next up on the live front is a headline show in Dublin at the Academy on 15 November. One to watch.
