We say

‘People’ is the first UK single from multi-national four-piece Yemen Blues. Led by vocalist and gimbri player Ravid Kalahani and backed by Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz (bass and oud), Rony Iwryn (percussion), and Dan Mayo (drums), the band draws on a diverse range of music from soul, funk, and hip hop, along with East African and Arabic influences. Written in New York and featuring an LA gospel choir, the track was released last week and is a big, joyous clarion call to come together through fun and music. Full of soulfulness, infectious hooks and traditional elements, this is a catchy offering and a great introduction to the sound of Yemen Blues in the UK. You can watch the video here, which features dancers from Move|NYC| - an arts and social justice organisation. Later this year, the band will release their new album here in the UK and plan to follow this with a series of live shows as well.
