Keep It Up
We say
For those of you reading our Mongrel column will know that we have been seriously impressed with east London duo Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, aka Good Neighbours, since the beginning of the year and the phenomenal success of their debut ‘Home’. Sitting somewhere between MGMT, Passion Pit, and Glass Animals, the alt-indie-pop goodness of ‘Home’ quickly saw them graduate from viral buzz to chart success with entry into singles charts in 12 countries (UK no.26 and Billboard 100) and over 125m combined streams to date. Currently on Radio 1’s B-List and receiving support from Apple Music 1 (Zane Lowe, Matt Wilkinson) and Radio X (Radio X playlist & Record of the Week), ‘Home’ is showing there is still plenty of life in the indie banger. Last week, the duo dropped this euphoric follow-up to the masses, which featured heavily across new release programming and editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. With its jangly piano chords, rolling drums and upbeat energy, ‘Keep It Up’ has clocked up over 750k combined streams, and like ‘Home’ we expect it to follow a similar trajectory. Next up for the duo is a sold-out headline show at the Lexington on 24 April, followed by a sold-out show at the Village Underground on 19 June. There’s been a lot of interest in Good Neighbours from tastemakers and music fans alike, and we only expect this to continue with each new release. In the meantime, let’s enjoy some amazing feel-good music. Top stuff.
