something in the rain
We say
London-based US band Cosmorat released their debut EP, ‘Evil Adjacent’ last Friday (15 March) – a collection of indie-pop odes reflecting on girlhood, anxieties, boredom and despair while infused with nostalgia and a Twin Peaks-esque flair. Singles from the EP have caught the attention of tastemakers at DIY Mag, The Line Of Best Fit, Nylon, DMY, The Independent, Earmilk and more as well as radio plays from Radio 1 (Jack Saunders), Radio X (John Kennedy), Apple Music (Matt Wilkinson) and the Student Radio Network. ‘something in the rain’ is the lead single from the EP and it is, quite simply, masterful. Mixing warm and heartfelt soundcapes with euphoric explosions and hazy atmospherics, the track delivers an immersive experience as Taylor sings about coping with social anxiety in group settings. Support for the single has come from numerous blogs, including Under The Radar, Lefuturewave and Clout. Deserving of additions to indie-pop and alternative playlists at DSPs, we can also see this gaining love at Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X. They will be playing three different types of shows in London over the next month, a visual show (28 March, Whirled Cinema), a basement séance show (4 April, Shacklewell Arms) and a stripped back performance with a choir (11 April, St Pancras Old Church). Plus, they will be performing at the Great Escape Festival. One to watch.
