someone new
We say
Regular readers will know we have been avid supporters of Surinamese/Dutch folk-pop singer-songwriter Neomi Speelman, aka néomí, over the last two years. Having bewitched us with her delightfully authentic and wistful stories from her debut EP, ‘before’, and the euphoric follow-up EP, ‘after’, she is now set to release her debut album, ‘somebody’ daughter’, this May. ‘someone new’ is her latest single taken from her debut album recorded with longtime collaborator and producer Will Knox. Described as a love letter to her therapist, the song is another intimate tale backed by warm, euphoric tones and lush production. Support for her music has come from spins at 6 Music and Radio 2, editorial playlist support at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer, along with praise from the Independent, the Sunday Times (Breaking Act), Notion, the Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk and more. Tonight and Friday, she will be performing at SXSW Festival, and then in May, she will play The Great Escape Festival. If you are attending either festival, we recommend you check her out live.
