Born and raised in Co.Kilkenny, Ireland, Annika Kilkenny is a singer, songwriter and musician who has been introducing herself to the world through a series of heartfelt, captivating folk-led singles. By using her social media pages as virtual notebooks for her ideas, she released her first single, ‘Look Mom I Made It’, just over six months ago and has since seen her music featured on Spotify editorial playlists, praised by Irish tastemakers Hot Press, Nialler 9 and Goldenplec, and played on Irish station RTE 2FM. Plus, she has received praise and comments on her social media pages from artists like Matt Maltese, Maisie Peters, Adam Melchor and Laufey, who invited her to open for her at EartH in London last week. Released today (23 February), ‘Sentences’ is her gorgeous new tune, layered with lush, gentle production and warmth. Deserving of additions to folk and laidback playlists at DSPs, we can also see this receiving spins on 6 Music, Radio 2, and Radio 1, alongside picking up syncs in TV and films. Annika has that talent of making the listener feel like her friend and confidant. One to watch.
