Adopting a more euphoric dream-pop-inspired aesthetic on ‘your girl’, Surinamese/Dutch folk-pop singer-songwriter néomí steps away from her acoustic-led direction of previous releases for a beautifully emotive gem. We’ve been big fans of her music over the last 18 months, and it’s an absolute pleasure to see another side to her sound as she offers us a glimpse of where she is taking it ahead of her debut album, set to be released next year. Last week, Steve Lamacq at 6 Music gave the track its play and has since been playlisted on NPO 3FM in Holland and received early tastemaker support from DMY and Earmilk. Inspired by classic folk songwriters like Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Bob Dylan and Phoebe Bridgers, néomí’s music has seen her pick up editorial playlist support at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. Further support has come from the Sunday Times, The Independent, The Line Of Best Fit, Notion, Songwriting Magazine and Wonderland, to name just a few.
