shoelaces
We say
Venturing deeper into the sonic landscapes of the ’90s grunge era, ‘shoelaces’ sees the now independent (previously signed to Polydor) south London artist Joey Maxwell deliver a disgustingly hooky track about social anxiety. A catalyst for his genre change, the track marks the third and final release from his upcoming EP, ‘don’t know how to feel about this’, which is to be released later this month on his own label Natureland Records. Watch the video shot by Jaw (Bring Me The Horizon, JGrrey) here. With its almost Bloc Party-like feel the song has received huge DSP support with additions to editorial playlists at Spotify (The Locker, Undercurrents, Indie Arrival), Apple Music (New In Alternative), Deezer (Brand New UK, Brand New Pop, New UK Pop) and YouTube Music (New Alternative Indie). Plus, the track has caught the attention of Dork and DIY to go alongside previous tastemaker support from Radio 1, Notion, Clash, Metal mag, Wonderland, Far Out and more. Joey will be headlining the Bermondsey Social Club on 19 October.
