Karma
We say
‘Karma’ is the punchy, ‘80s synths-infused “Off-pop” banger from London-based singer-songwriter Cecil. With its dark but empowering feel-good feeling, the single marks the first taste of her upcoming project ‘Bad Karma’. Receiving its first radio play on BBC Introducing Berkshire on Saturday, the Mort (Chinchilla, Ocean Tisdall) produced track would also be perfect for spins on specialist shows on Radio 1 and 6 Music, along with additions to dark pop/new pop contextual playlists at DSPs. It’s not the first time we’ve called attention to Cecil’s brand of “off pop” as we featured her singles ‘Haunt’ and ‘Toybox’ before, and it’s great to see how she has progressed. Since those features, more tastemaker praise for her music has come from Notion, The Independent, Line Of Best Fit, The Sun, BBC Introducing and others. Having supported RotD-featured artist Lyra on her headline tour earlier this year, Cecil played a sold-out show at Laylow in London and will headline The Bedford in London next month (23 August).
