Happier
We say
For those of you who don’t keep your ears on the burgeoning country/country pop scene here in the UK, here is a group you should put on your radar. Comprising of four friends, Tim Prottey-Jones (former founder of RotD fav’s The Wandering Hearts), solo artist Poppy Fardell, songwriter Jake Morrell and West End theatre actress and singer Vicki Manser, First Time Flyers are a rising star on the scene. Formed at the start of 2023, they first made an impact with this gorgeous, uplifting anthem with echoes of Lady A and Fleetwood Mac-esque vibes. Since then, they have released a string of singles that have seen them receive plays on BBC Radio 2, Absolute Country, Countryline radio and numerous regional BBC radio stations. They played their first live show at the Country 2 Country festival in London, then followed that with a sold-out show at The Grace in London and, more recently, they played BST Hyde Park supporting Bruce Springsteen. Their recent single, ‘Gold’, is another slick gem of country-infused pop with an infectious and empowering chorus. Next up for the band are a series of summer festival dates in August (Lakefest, The Long Road, The Big Feastival, Carfest) before they head out on their Happier headline tour in September, including a show at The Lexington in London on 26 September. For heart-warming, uplifting country pop anthems, look no further than First Time Flyers. One to watch.
