Homegrown
We say
It’s been nearly two years since we last featured rising London-based indie-pop artist Kitty Montague and her sassy brand of soulful indie-pop. Having taken some time away to work on new material, Kitty is set to release this ironic, intimate and soulful number this Friday (23 June). Combining a nostalgic ’90s energy with empowering, diary-esque lyrics, ‘Homegrown’ sees Kitty capture dating and youth culture in all its chaos, all wrapped up in a buoyant and summery vibe. With features lined up with Wonderland and Clout upon release, this boppy number is perfect for new release programming and pop/new pop editorial playlists at DSPs, alongside spins on Radio 1. Previous tastemaker support has come from BBC Introducing Kent (Abbie McCarthy), Notion, Fame, Now Music and FMS magazine, to name just a few. On the live front, she headlined Piano Smithfield last year and has supported Gabrielle in Kingston and Sam Fender in Newcastle. An uplifting pop anthem for the summer.
