High In Brighton
We say
We wrongly assumed nobody made songs like this anymore, quite honestly. Neatly distilling that unbridled euphoria when anticipation levels are at the max, ahead of an imromptu trip to the seaside for a day out on the lash with your mates, all credit then to FIZZ, a mysterious group who played a surprise show at the Great Escape last month. They're now revealed to be the alias for a top-notch collective that comprises of dodie, Orla Gartland, Greta Isaac, and Martin Luke Brown. Each of them cheerfully flings their own set of musical skills and writing into the pop pot here to produce a killer tune, and whose 'High In Brighton' chorus melody line alone might end up being the finest thing you'll hear this summer. It's pure unfettered joy, all wrapped up in a perfectly layered three minute burst of energy that's destined to be loudly screamed by everyone who hears it. One play and you're powerless to resist. We can't wait to hear this live when the group perform at their sold-out Hoxton Hall show in London this Wednesday night (21 June) and at assorted festivals in the coming month including Latitude and Barn On The Farm. Their debut album 'The Secret To Life' follows on 15 September and if it's anything like this effortlessly cool taster single, we're all in for one hell of a treat. Yep, it's so damn near perfect, it should be blasting out of everyone's smart speakers and radio immediately.
