Calling
We say
Taking its cues from The Cranberries and Cocteau Twins is this gorgeous new single about friendship and solidarity from North Wales alt-pop quartet Hourglvss. Consisting of best friends Katie Benbow (vocals/keyboard), Sophie May Williams (vocals/keyboard), Rosie Hamilton (guitar) and Lauren James (drums), the group, who work out of Benbow’s ‘Vintage Hearts’ clothing warehouse, have already found fans in Jack Saunders at BBC Radio 1, Lauren Laverne at 6 Music and BBC Introducing. Written, produced and recorded by the group, Calling delivers a dreamy slice 80s tinged pop with a sprinkling All Saints-esque hue about it. Perfect for sun-dappled alt-pop editorial playlists and further spins on radio. This past weekend, the group have been supporting Nimmo on tour and later this month will play Liverpool Sound City on the BBC Introducing Stage before attending the Focus Wales and Isle of Wight Festivals. One to watch.
