Punkrock Band
We say
Since bursting onto the German scene in late 2021, German-American art-punk band Lawn Chair have quickly gained recognition on the indie scene for their guitar-driven energetic sound. Having released their self-titled and self-produced debut EP last year, the band, fronted by Seattle-born Claudia Schlutius, have played Reeperbahn and Waves Vienna, along with praise from German tastemakers. Last month, they dropped Sunset Heartbreak, a single from their forthcoming new EP produced by Olaf Opal (The Notwist) and mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Future Islands), which caught the attention of 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and DIY here in the UK. Now back with Punkrock Band, this brilliant and soaring blast of jangly rock, complete with the infectious singalong spoken verse “I will start a punkrock band that everyone will love”, is sure to find much love with tastemakers here. Deserving of spins at 6 Music, Radio 1, and Radio X, along with editorial playlist additions on indie and alternative playlists at DSPs, Punkrock Band could be the new indie favourite at clubs and festivals this summer. Quite simply brilliant.
