Tonia is a singer, songwriter and artist who, after becoming one of Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) Academy’s ‘Most Promising’ artists’ in 2021, is now picking up her fair share of the attention in all the right places. She can already count Radio 1 specialists Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Gemma Bradley and Maia Beth among her key tastemaker supporters, all of whom have played tracks from her recently released debut EP, Afloat. Working with the producer and long-time friend and collaborator Bob Mackenzie (Anne-Marie, Inflo, The Mysterines), Tonia has created a heartfelt, honest and intimate EP backed by warm, mellow neo-soul infused alt-pop production. We personally think this gorgeous track is one of the standouts. Further tastemaker support has come from Spotify, BBC Introducing, Independent, Dummy, Le Futurewave and more online sites. Having performed at Sound City, Kendall Calling and a string of shows across the UK, including at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, The Old Blue Last (London), Tonia is set to play a show at Yes Basement (12 March) and District in Liverpool (24 March) next month, as well as a BBC Introducing Live Lounge session for BBC Introducing Merseyside on 10 March.
