FREELOVE
We say
Bristol band Hypothetics are a group of four friends who have grafted as a collective to build a loyal and growing following for their melodic and progressive fuelled sound. Having evolved from their embryonic urgent straight up punk, the lads released three singles in 2022 that saw them catch the attention of tastemakers Jack Saunders and Gemma Bradley at Radio 1, named as a Breaking Act in Sunday Times Culture and editorial playlists support at Apple Music (Rock and New in Alternative). The above support led them to be booked for the Great Escape and a slew of summer festivals. Released yesterday (23 February), Freelove is the band’s first release of 2023 and was produced by Mercury-nominated Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Black Country, New Road). This dynamic and lyrically vulnerable offering slowly builds into a complex and chaotic blast of noise for its final third, showing the lads at their unrelenting best. Watch the self-directed and produced video here. Deserving of editorial placement on alternative and rock playlists at DSPs, Freelove is a statement of intent and marks them down as a band to keep an eye on in 2023.
