Rainbow’s End
We say
Rainbow’s End is the darkly tragic new single from Italian alt-rock act Codice EGO. Taken from their forthcoming three track EP of the same name, the track follows the journey of band member Dario Pelizzari as he navigates the upending of his life by a sudden health problem at the beginning of the pandemic. Co-written with Italian author and poet Luca Ragagnin, who has worked with bands Delta V and Subsonica, the track draws on mid '90s alternative sounds with echoes of Butch Vig production and Shirley Manson-esque vocals. Produced by Hugo Nicolson (Bjork, Primal Scream, Radiohead), the song is a dark and desperate offering, marking the turmoil of Dario at this time. Watch the beautiful black and white video here. It's the kind of track we can hear being played on 6 Music and also deserves additions to alt-rock playlists at DSPs. Next month, they play a show in Turin at Hiroshima Mon Amour (16 Feb) and then on 23 March will play Legend in Milan. For those of us in the UK interested in catching them live, they will headline Paper Dress Vintage on 2 May. Atmospheric and immersive alt-rock. Top stuff.
