The Weight of the Weekend
We say
For those of you heading over to Groningen this week to attend Eurosonic, we recommend you pop in to catch Amsterdam-based artist Nadine Appeldoorn, aka Mazey Haze, at the News cafe on Thursday (19 January at 20.45). We’ve been big admirers of her ethereal indie-pop, having featured previous singles, Sad Lonely Groove and Don’t Care. This April will see the 22 year old release her new EP, Back to the Start, which contains this gem, and draws on her love of French New Wave cinema, Italian film scores and ’60s-psych rock. Her sprightly indie rock tones and evocative lyrics have seen Mazey draw praise from Notion, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit and The Independent. Alongside this, she has been featured editorially on playlists across Europe on Spotify and received strong Dutch radio support (NPO 3FM, NPO Radio 1, KINK and Radio Veronica). If you don’t manage to catch her at ESNS, then don’t worry, you’ll have another chance in London on 25 April at Paper Dress Vintage.
