In Denial
We say
Scottish newcomer Christy has quite the story to tell. He was first expelled from school when his teachers didn’t believe that he, a dyslexic youngster, had written a piece of music so proficient it could be his own work (the school eventually apologised, he left anyway). At 16, he made a living busking on the streets of Glasgow before landing a lead role in an indie film, Moondogs, after a chance meeting with an acting agent. Currently, three seasons in as a romantic hero in the Disney series Find Me In Paris, Christy is now concentrating on his writing and recording his music. Recently signed to Decca, the 24 year old released this arena-ready, ear-wormy pop singalong tinged with echoes of Paolo Nutini and Alabama Shakes. It’s one of those dreamily romantic songs with an upbeat feel that you can easily hear being playlisted on Radio 1 and 2, along with editorial additions at DSPs on their pop genre and contextual mood playlists. Spotify and Amazon Music have added this to their new release programming today (11 November), so expect more coverage soon. Top stuff.
