Red Diesel
We say
We’ve been following the music career of Weston Loney since he was the frontman of County Armagh’s four-piece Hunkpapa. The band impressed us with their stadium rock vibes back in 2019 and 2020, but early this year, Weston embarked on a new stage of his career with the brilliant debut solo track Breaking Out. The song continued to evoke those Springsteen-esque vibes but also hinted at early U2 as an influence. Now back with his second single, Red Diesel (fun fact: tax-free diesel for agriculture use in Northern Ireland) is another anthemic rock gem with an ’80s rock aesthetic sheen and a touch of Kings of Leon. Perfect for spins on Radio X, 6 Music and specialist shows at Radio 1 and 2, along with additions to DSP rock playlists. On 15 September, Weston will be performing at the Lexington in Islington. Top stuff.
