Palm Trees
We say
Drawing on ‘90s grunge, alternative hip hop, shoegaze and indie rock is Toronto’s Less Killjoy. She grew up listening to records by Nirvana, No Doubt, Kid Cudi, Rihanna and Paramore in her grandma’s basement, which inspired her to play in bands as a guitarist, drummer and vocalist. Over time, she started to write and record songs and find her own style. Palm Trees is her debut record and glistens with echoing vocal energy, dreamy synthesizers, grungy acoustic guitar and an 808 bassline. Written about “finding happiness and hanging on to it”, Palm Trees offers an honest and intimate introduction to Less Killjoy. With more music to come from her debut EP Pink Grenade over the next couple of months, Less Killjoy offers a tantalizing glimpse into her genreless approach on this nostalgic yet modern gem.
