Blending UK garage sounds with electronic pop and a touch of indie vibes are Hackney-based production duo 0171, aka Joe Bedell-Brill and Georgie Hoare. Having dropped two EPs, one in 2019 and the other in 2020, the duo can already count the Fader, i-D, Noisey, High Snobiety, Sunday Times and Billboard among their supporters. Plus, Spotify and Apple Music have also featured their tracks on editorial playlists. Now back with their third EP, Welcome Back To My Channel, 0171 continue to push boundaries with their genre-bending sound. With its hazy vibe, Gorillaz-esque vocals, a garage beat and a slick indie-electronic production, The Utopians, for us, is one of the standout tracks on the EP. Produced and written by 0171 and mixed by Joe Visciano (Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, Jamie xx, SZA), the track has so far picked up support from Apple Music, Clash and a number of online blogs.
