Summertime Song

Artist: Jess Meyer

We say

This glorious indie-pop debut is from South African-born artist and songwriter Jess Meyer. Currently based between Ireland and the UK, the 20 year old grew up in Cape Town and Dubai where she taught herself piano and started to put her poetry to music. Through this process, she discovered a passion for songwriting. Her move to Ireland introduced her to a broader musical language, including traditional, folk and alternative, all of which had a significant influence on her indie-pop sensibilities. Produced by Dave Skelton and written in full by Jess, Summertime Song was released on Paragon Records last week. With its upbeat acoustic-led melody, handclap beat, and subtle nods to early-mid ’00s indie-pop sensibilities gently powering this vibrant offering amidst a swirling atmospheric birdsong, it’s easy to fall under its bewitching spell. Early support has been confirmed on RTE 2FM radio, with Irish regional radio plays to come this week. We expect more online support to follow soon and reckon this little gem would be perfect for a TV advert sync or drama show. Great stuff.
