We say

With the return after two years of the Great Escape Festival to venues around Brighton next week, we shall be looking ahead to some of the acts we recommend you should check out. First up is Scottish songwriter and alternative star-in-the-making Blair Davie. They started their career as a solo artist, recording their first record at just 12 years before becoming a frontperson in several bands throughout their teenage years. Now back as a solo artist, writing with friend and collaborator Kyle Fummey in their home studio, Blair’s music explores coming to terms with his own bisexuality, loss and heartbreak and the beauty that life can offer. Released yesterday, Platform 10 is their beautifully emotive second single about being left behind. It’s a sonically striking offering, from the gorgeous piano melody to the synth hooks, soaring instrumentation and Blair’s aching vocals. With a sound ideal for contextual mood and alt-pop/ballad playlists at DSP's, we reckon Platform 10 will be quickly finding additions to playlists over the next week. Plus, it would be perfect for airplay on Radio 1 and 2. You can catch Blair performing live at Unitarian Church at 6.30pm on Thursday (12 May) at the Great Escape, and for those not attending, they will also be playing the Courtyard Theatre on 10 May in London.
