Backseat Valentine
We say
We’ve quickly become obsessed by this vibrant and intense break-up anthem from Australian artist Charlie Collins. The former Tigertown band member has successfully been building her solo career in her native homeland. Her ARIA nominated and AIR award-winning debut Snowpine won numerous accolades, crossed music genres and saw her support Sam Fender and Orville Peck, along with festival appearances at Australia’s Laneway, Fairgrounds and Woodford Festival. Now back with this, her fourth single from her upcoming second album Undone, Charlie has produced a blistering earworm full of emotion, alt-pop hooks and some awesome 90s-esque fuzzy guitar lines. Written and recorded in an hour, this spontaneous, wild and oh so addictive track has picked up tastemaker support from Clash, NME, Dork and the Line of Best Fit, to name just a few. Released last Friday (11 March) and featuring on numerous editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, Backseat Valentine might well become one of your new favourite tracks of 2022. She is currently supporting Gang of Youths and will be playing with them tonight at Brixton Academy.
