Cambridge-born indie-pop artist, producer and songwriter Ellie Dixon has been creating quite a storm online over the past 18 months with her brand of self-aware alt-pop. The 23 year old has been producing regular viral content in her bedroom studio with her own music and through re-harmonising others to great effect on TikTok. Along the way, Ellie has picked up support at Radio 1 with a BBC Introducing Track of the Week feature and a Maida Vale live session, performed at Camp Bestival and Latitude festival last year, and gained online praise from blogs. This year has seen her surpass 1m TikTok followers, been nominated for ‘TikTok Songwriter of the Year’ at the iHeart Radio Awards and to top it all off, Ellie has just signed to Decca. We first became aware of her back in 2020 with this quirky dose of joyous alt-pop, filled with funky basslines, infectious melodies and witty lyrical hooks. Over the next month, Ellie will be playing in London twice, starting with a support slot with Casey Lowry tonight (9 March) at the Scala and then at the Courtyard Theatre on 7 April. One to watch.
