This elegant, extravagant and cinematic pop offering is the latest from Sydney-based alternative pop artist Nick de la Hoyde. Readers will know we have been following the rise of Nick over the last couple of years and featured his glistening electronic pop ode Stay By Me last year. Tastemaker support has come from Spotify (NMF, Pop n’ Fresh), SiriusXM USA, BBC Radio 1 and Asia Pop 40. Plus, he has partnered with brands such as Seiko Watches, Hard Rock Café, Puma, Beats by Dre, Red Bull and ASOS. Now back with this Bond-esque number centred around a shuddering waltz-based melody and a downtempo beat, Nick showcases a grandiose side to his music that is instantly engaging and downright sumptuous. Written and recorded with brothers/producers Joseph and Timothy de la Hoyde, Devotion is a track about being woken from a state of blind ambition to realising there is more to life. With its rich orchestral brass and string flourishes, hard-hitting drums and Nick’s swooning vocals, it is hard not to be swept away by this pop gem.
