Starting off our first week of Ones To Watch 2022 in this new year is emerging singer-songwriter Ocean Tisdall. Born and raised in a small town within the Wicklow mountains in Ireland, the 20 year old artist grew up appreciating his mother’s love of country music, her knowledge of pop divas and watching music videos on TV. A self-confessed “small town boy”, Ocean used his songwriting to speak about his personal experiences of growing up with dyslexia and feeling like an outsider. Inspired by Troye Sivan, Conan Gray, and Billie Eilish, Ocean’s blend of emotive lyrics and heartfelt vocals over R&B tinged dark-pop production quickly caught our attention earlier this year when this beautiful track was released. Nialler 9, Hotpress and a host of other Irish tastemakers at radio and press fell head-over-heels with praise for the artist and helped him build a loyal online following on Instagram and TikTok. With a debut EP already recorded and his next single White Lies (it’s good) set to be released next month, everything is ready for Ocean to have a breakout 2022. Yes, it is still relatively early for this young artist, but there is something about his flair for heartfelt pop melodies and emotive lyrics that makes us think he has everything to become a hit.
