We say

This year’s Record of the Year accolade goes to Simbiatu "Simbi" Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, aka Little Simz, who in our opinion, has released one of the best albums of the year (and a shoo-in for the Mercury Prize next year) with the utterly brilliant, grandiose, and thoughtful Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. Released in September, the album was highly praised by tastemakers across the board from the likes of the Times, Telegraph, Standard, NME, Uncut, DIY and Clash, to name just a few. It was named BBC 6 Music Album of the Year, as well as featuring in the Best Album of the Year lists at Clash (#1), NME (#2), Sunday Times Culture (#2), Guardian (#3), and we reckon these won’t be the last either. We featured this superb and cinematic track back in April after it was heralded as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 and featured heavily across DSPs, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. Since then, it has been shortlisted for BBC Radio’s Hottest Record of the Year, and along with her album, helped Little Simz win the Artist of the Year at the Artist and Manager Awards, Best Female Act at the MOBOs, and Best International Flow at BET Hip Hop Awards. Overall, it’s been a phenomenal year for the talented and unstoppable force. Congratulations to Little Simz, AWAL, Robert Swerdlow at Starwood Management and the extended team, and here’s to a big 2022 for you all.
