Let Your Love Rain Down On Me
We say
London-based band Curse of Lono, fronted by former Hey Negrita vocalist and guitarist Felix Bechtolsheimer, captured our attention back in 2018 with their cinematic blend of Americana and driving, gothic alt-rock in their debut album Severed. Since then, the five-piece have released their second album, As I Fell, and picked up the Bob Harris Emerging Artist Award at the UK Americana Awards in 2019. Last Friday, the group dropped their third album, People In Cars, which was recorded with long-term collaborator and producer Oli Bayston (Spiritualized, Teleman, Boxed In) and engineer Iain Berryman (Wolf Alice, Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon). The album is a deeply atmospheric record that sees the band adopt a post-country aesthetic with a cosmic feel based around Felix’s brooding baritone. It’s a gorgeous listen and would fit perfectly into anyone’s collection alongside the likes of The National, The War On Drugs and Leonard Cohen. For a taster, just listen to this beautiful gem. This Wednesday (1 December), the group will play the ElectroWerkz in London for their album launch.
