Far Away
We say
Regular readers will know that we have been big supporters of emerging South Coast quartet Flowvers since featuring their debut single in August 2018 when the band were still at college. Since then, they have released their Gethin Person (JAWS, Crystal Fighters) debut EP Throwaway Generation in 2020 alongside a string of excellent singles that combined a raucous blend of jangly ’80s guitars and ’90s indie charm with youthful exuberance. In July, they dropped their Old Chapel Demos EP which saw the band gain Radio X exposure. After being gifted 12 days in Warner’s Studios London working with Arctic Monkeys credited engineer Richard Woodcroft, they are back with their first new material. Far Away sees the lads self-produce an addictive indie anthem, full of infectious riffs and primal percussion. Upon release, the song featured on Apple Music editorial playlist (New In Alternative), along with subsequent features and plays on Soccer AM, XS Manchester and BBC Introducing. Yesterday, Clash premiered the video, filmed in former Lifers Prison HM Kingston Portsmouth. Over the summer, the band performed at Isle of Wight and Victorious festivals and are just about to finish their UK October tour. Tomorrow (20 October), they will be headlining the new indie night, Undercurrent, at the Waiting Room in London, as well as being invited into Talk Sport with Hawksbee & Jacobs.
