Beaucoup
We say
Let us introduce you to Dublin hip-hop/R&B producer and artist Carsten2X with this infectious lo-fi trap offering. Named after his Danish heritage with the 2X as a throwback to a previous moniker and his home, Dublin (ie. doublin’), the Dubai-born artist has been diligently working on his sound for a couple of years. Released today (28 July), Beaucoup is his debut offering co-produced with Chuks Chiejine (Brockhampton, Burna Boy) and mixed by Richard Furch (Tobi Lou, Frank Ocean, BJ the Chicago Kid). Exuding confidence and humour in equal measure, this bouncing cut opens with a warped guitar line before moving into its irresistible hook: "I need beaucoup/Real shit not that tofu/If I don’t get it might go goku". Destined for R&B and laidback summer contextual playlists, the song is worthy of new release programming this Friday. Online support confirmed for the track comes from Beats Per Minute, Roadie Music, Indie Criollo and deathordesire, while the video will be premiered by Clash on 9 August. With more songs to come this year, Carsten2X is another Irish star to keep an eye on from the growing hip-hop scene in and around the capital.
