When It Comes To It (Demo)
We say
Headlining tonight’s (20 July) Big Hug Industry showcase at the Old Blue Last in London is RotD favourites FLOWVERS. The Portsmouth-based indie/alternative quartet have been writing music together since meeting at school in 2016. They released their Gethin Person (JAWS, Crystal Fighters) debut EP Throwaway Generation in 2020 after a string of excellent singles that combined a raucous blend of jangly ’80s guitars and ’90s indie charm with youthful exuberance. The band picked up tastemaker support from the likes of John Kennedy (Radio X), NME, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1 and Spotify. Recently, Asylum Records gifted the band 12 days at Warners' Studio London working with Arctic Monkeys credited engineer Richard Woodcroft to work on new material, which will be released in August. But in the meantime, they have taken that experience and their ever-changing influences of new wave, post-punk, ’90s alternative into the Old Chapel Studios Chichester to lay down five tracks in one day, with this beast of a track as the lead from the demo EP (out yesterday). It may only be a demo, but it sounds bliming fantastic and offers a tantalising glance at what is to come from their new material. We reckon FLOWVERS are one of the most exciting new bands out there at the moment and expect big things from them. They are set to play a number of festivals this summer and will venture off on a UK tour this October. If you are interested in catching them tonight, contact management.
